DESCRIPTION: J. R. Mills & Co., New York, Crane's Patent, 8 day, time and strike, two weights three ball rotary pendulum shelf clock. c1846. This model was made in Bellesville, New Jersey and sold by the Year Clock Co. from its store in New York. The J.R. Mills & Co. was located in Bellesville. Examples of the case with pictures of the movement can be found in: "NAWCC supplement 16, summer 1987, Aaron Dodd Crane, An American Original", pg 71.
CONDITION: Rosewood and mahogany veneered case in nice condition in an old finish with some veneer loss on the base sides and the top sides. Paper dial behind glass has a stain on the lower right corner. Original three ball gilt lead pendulum. Model E style movement. Hands are original. Nice label inside case. Proper style frosted glass may be a replacement. Case retains original dust cover, often missing. Ht 21"
